This morning, in a flowery and flowing sundress and with a refreshing kale/blueberry/banana smoothie and The 22 Laws of Wellness by Greg Anderson in hand, I headed outside to my backyard nature "retreat." I wanted to simply sit with God, feel His sunshine, inhale His fresh air, and enjoy the scenery of His greenery all around me.
When I opened "The 22 Laws of Wellness," I felt drawn to read Chapter 14 even though I hadn't reached that point in the book as yet. The Chapter: The Law of Creativity.
"...The Law of Creativity asks us not to mandate our future. Instead, the law asks us to seek the divine design in our lives. As we'll learn in discussing the the Law of Life Mission, few people have the faintest idea of what their divine and most creative design is," Anderson writes.
"I believe one should not visualize or force a mental picture," he advises. "Thousands of people have been disappointed by doing so and, as a result, have come to mistrust the Law of Creativity. Instead, let the divine design come naturally and intuitively. It's there if we'll listen....""What are you holding in your mind?" Anderson asks. "Ask for the divine design, and hold fast to that vision. "You'll be experiencing the power of the non-negotiable Law of Creativity."
So moved by this chapter, I kept popping inside to share tidbits from it with my husband and son. The content was timely and wonderful reiteration for my college-bound son who is about to begin navigating new ways to "show up" in the world to serve our Lord and Savior...
Back outside...inside of a gray notebook, I wrote:
"Dear God, What is my divine mission?"
While I definitely feel aligned with my mission, I can sense there's more to the work I've begun in my community, and I'm seeking God for these answers.
Anderson advises in his chapter on "The Law of Life Mission" to "detach and view your life for a moment to discover your center. What drives you? What is of prime importance?" he asks. "Answering these questions with sincerity is the core work of wellness," he states.
I quickly jotted down a list of what was coming to mind:
"Love of God and seeking Him
Family/Parenting
Sharing (His love and lessons) with family and others
Writing
Teaching (Stretching/Wellness)
Exercise
Nutrition
Nature
Peace
Stillness (Psalm 46:10)
Dance
Fun
Engaging Conversation
Wellness
Health"
I looked at Anderson's book some more and then reached a point in which I knew I had to put it down and simply let things process. I moved on to doing laundry and a few other indoor chores.
Eventually, I found myself at the computer in research, typing words such as "Christian fitness" in search of places where I can contribute writings about blending Christian-spiritual and physical fitness.
A Christian fitness video with the word "STRETCH!" in it landed in front of me and "called" me to watch it. That led me to Revelation Wellness and then on to radio programs where Revelation Wellness' founder, Alisa Keeton, had some interesting things to say that lined up with my fitness philosophy. She asked me (and other listeners) to meet her "right there in the mid-line..."
I had a divine kind of feeling going on, followed by...
Tears...
Happy tears due to a connection I was feeling!
With computer in hand, I darted off to begin sharing some of this with my husband, but as quickly as I started telling him about these "puzzle-pieces," I quickly stopped. Why? This was all stirring so deeply that I needed more time to process it all myself.
From a different company but from under the same Body of Christ, here was Alisa expressing that "balanced" approach to fitness that I so deeply connect with and love, a passion which "birthed" ZoeHygiea.
Hmmh, is God giving me a "team" to partner with for many reasons, one being that I sometimes feel alone with further growing my vision in my community and am unclear about just how to do that? (Although I no longer teach under the umbrella of yoga, just a few days ago, I was thinking how I miss the "community" of teachers I used to teach with.)
I'm excited that this could quite possibly be God sending me a community to learn, share and grow with as we share our passion for Him through combining spiritual and physical fitness.
Stay tuned...:-)
In His Love!
